Role Overview
The Center Director is the key leader responsible for running the daily operations of the MADE by ToyWobot center. In this role, you will ensure our makerspace programs run smoothly and align with our mission of creative and critical learning. You will manage staff and instructors, maintain high-quality educational experiences, and be the main point of contact for students, parents, and the community. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on oversight to create an engaging atmosphere where learners and educators thrive. The Center Director should be both an innovative educator and an efficient administrator, dedicated to maintaining a vibrant, future-focused learning hub.

MADE by ToyWobot is a creative makerspace and learning center focused on Arts, Design, Engineering, and Technology. Through project-based learning and hands-on exploration, we foster problem-solving, critical thinking, and self-agency in kids. Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations of the makerspace and its programs, ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
- Program Management: Develop, schedule, and implement a variety of workshops, classes, and events that align with our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) curriculum and innovation goals.
- Team Management: Hire, train, and supervise instructors and support staff. Foster a positive team culture through mentorship, regular feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Student & Parent Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for students and parents – addressing inquiries, communicating program details, and gathering feedback to improve the learner experience.
- Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure all activities meet our quality standards and safety protocols. Manage facility upkeep and the maintenance of tools and equipment (e.g. robotics kits, 3D printers) so that everything is in excellent working order.
- Community Outreach: Build partnerships with schools, organizations, and community groups. Organize field trips, demos, or special events to increase awareness of MADE by ToyWobot and drive enrollment.
- Administrative Duties: Handle center scheduling, budgeting, and record-keeping. Monitor program enrollment and attendance, and prepare regular reports on center performance. Implement policies and procedures in line with company guidelines and educational best practices.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM/STEAM, Business Management or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in managing educational programs, youth centers, or similar projects is highly preferred.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership and team management skills. Experience supervising educators or program staff, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team.
- Passion for STEAM: Enthusiasm for science, technology, arts, and making. Familiarity with makerspace tools and emerging technologies (e.g. coding, robotics, 3D printing) and the ability to integrate them into educational programs.
- Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with children, parents, and community members. Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, friendly manner and resolve conflicts or concerns professionally.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills. Capable of managing schedules, budgets, and resources efficiently while paying attention to details like safety and quality control.
- Innovative Mindset: Creative problem-solving ability and a forward-thinking attitude. Willingness to continuously improve programs and adapt to new educational trends or technologies.
- Additional Requirements: Understanding of child safety and educational regulations. (First Aid/CPR certification or teaching credentials are a plus.) Must be able to work some evenings or weekends as programs require.
